Steven Van Alen is a Social Entrepreneur and Environmentalist that loves to find a market niche in well-developed industries. Van Alen applies new generation knowledge and modern thinking -- for an eco-friendly future that lies in the hands of his generation. Using his young age to his advantage, he applies new modern visions of doing business to preserve the environment, use sustainable products, and utilize natural resources. At the age of 25, Van Alen is the Founder, CEO, and Chairman of the world's first Non-Profit 501(c)(3) corporation of its kind -- Imagine Clean Air LA. In addition, Van Alen started a new generation online sleep company named Sleepyhead™. Prior to this: Steven was raised in the Central Valley to separated parents who were both teachers. Steven developed a deep passion for business at the young age of ten when he started a lemonade stand on the street corner in his neighborhood. During the weekend lemonade business he would bring in an average of $150 a day. That was a lot of money to a 10 year old; however, unlike most kids, Steven took his money and invested it in different accounts. When he outgrew the lemonade stand he went around as the neighborhood gardener, mowing people's lawn for money. He did this until he got too busy with high-school athletics, being a three-sport athlete: cross country, wrestling, and track. At 16 years-old Steven bought his first car -- a Range Rover -- with his own money. During his junior year of high school at The Center For Advanced Research and Technology in Clovis, California, he found his passion and purpose in life -- to help save the environment. During a finals project he had to create a business plan and proposal that would help change the world. He combined his agricultural roots and experience in the landscape sector and decided to continue on that path, but make it completely zero-emissions, eco-friendly, and sustainable. Since he suffered from bad asthma, and the Central Valley is one of the most polluted areas in the world, he thought it was a great idea. During this time he was ahead of his classmates in the terms of thinking, and while living in a conservative town was bullied for his way of sustainability. So he traded his Range Rover for a Prius Hybrid and immediately after graduating high school moved to Los Angeles to attend Santa Monica College and map out how to execute his business idea in the big city. Prior businesses: Steven self-started: Emagine Lawns, LLC -- LA’s first zero-emission landscape company. Virgo Plants -- An interior plant company that matched plants to people based on their zodiac sign. And Emagine Entertainment -- produced a song about human-consumption on the environment. Sung by YouTube star Emmalyn Estrada, who is now apart of the hit girl group "GRL." Also, he is the co-founder of Fur Babies, a pet-boutique in Estes Park, Colorado. In addition: Van Alen is a consultant and mentor to other entrepreneurs trying to emerge in the social market. In his spare time he loves spending time with his dog Sandy, who he rescued from a local shelter. He also is an avid snowboarder and runner. |
